Arsenal vs Aston Villa Last Minute Preview

It's our final home game this season and we're in need of a win if we are to strengthen our position for a top three spot. The very least we can do after having crashed out of all competitions is to secure a top three finish and avoid a 2 legged qualification for getting into the Champions League.

After suffering a defeat at the hands of our "new enemy" Stoke City last week, we really need to pick up the pieces today and hit the ground running from the start. Villa gave us a tough game when we visited them and we shouldn't expect any kind of a cakewalk.

Team news is that Vermaelen is fit to play again whereas Koscielny has missed out due to a thigh strain.

Team News:

Arsenal:

Manager: Arsene Wenger
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Starting Lineup: Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Squillaci, Gibbs, Song, Wilshere, Walcott, Ramsey, Arshavin, Van Persie
Substitutes: Lehmann, Denilson, Eboue, Chamakh, Bendtner, Henderson, Miquel

Aston Villa:
Manager: Gerard Houllier
Formation: 4-5-1
Starting Lineup: Friedel, Walker, Dunne, Collins, L. Young, Delph, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Downing, Bent, A. Young
Substitutes: Pires, Agbonlahor, Albrighton, Bradley, Heskey, Cuellar, Marshall

Tactics:

Goalkeeping/Defence: We really need to pull ouselves up and put up a determined defensive performance after a shocking afternoon at the Britannia Stadium last week. Hope Vermaelen is back to full fitness and he takes a leadership role while defending set pieces. At least two of the three goals we conceded could have been avoided if we had defended properly. Djourou was the main culprit in the last match and I hope he's shaken that off his system.

Midfield: We've run out of steam in midfield in recent games and I hope we can find enough firepower today to do the simple things correctly.

Attack: It's wonderful to see van Persie getting the goals he so richly deserves and I hope he keeps trying hard as ever and keeps scoring(and hitting the post occasionally!). Hope we can utilise Theo's pace against Villa today.

Final Prediction:

2-1 win for Arsenal.

COME ON ARSENAL!!!
