Arsenal vs Aston Villa Last Minute Preview

It's our final home game this season and we're in need of a win if we are to strengthen our position for a top three spot. The very least we can do after having crashed out of all competitions is to secure a top three finish and avoid a 2 legged qualification for getting into the Champions League.

After suffering a defeat at the hands of our "new enemy" Stoke City last week, we really need to pick up the pieces today and hit the ground running from the start. Villa gave us a tough game when we visited them and we shouldn't expect any kind of a cakewalk.

Team news is that Vermaelen is fit to play again whereas Koscielny has missed out due to a thigh strain.

Team News:

Arsenal:

Manager: Arsene Wenger
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Starting Lineup: Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Squillaci, Gibbs, Song, Wilshere, Walcott, Ramsey, Arshavin, Van Persie
Substitutes: Lehmann, Denilson, Eboue, Chamakh, Bendtner, Henderson, Miquel

Aston Villa:
Manager: Gerard Houllier
Formation: 4-5-1
Starting Lineup: Friedel, Walker, Dunne, Collins, L. Young, Delph, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Downing, Bent, A. Young
Substitutes: Pires, Agbonlahor, Albrighton, Bradley, Heskey, Cuellar, Marshall

Tactics:

Goalkeeping/Defence: We really need to pull ouselves up and put up a determined defensive performance after a shocking afternoon at the Britannia Stadium last week. Hope Vermaelen is back to full fitness and he takes a leadership role while defending set pieces. At least two of the three goals we conceded could have been avoided if we had defended properly. Djourou was the main culprit in the last match and I hope he's shaken that off his system.

Midfield: We've run out of steam in midfield in recent games and I hope we can find enough firepower today to do the simple things correctly.

Attack: It's wonderful to see van Persie getting the goals he so richly deserves and I hope he keeps trying hard as ever and keeps scoring(and hitting the post occasionally!). Hope we can utilise Theo's pace against Villa today.

Final Prediction:

2-1 win for Arsenal.

COME ON ARSENAL!!!

Stoke City vs Arsenal Last Minute Preview

Having at last won a match after a long sequence of disappointing results when it counted, Arsenal travel away to one of my least favourite places in the Premier League. And with Ramsey starting to make an impression finally more than a year after that pig Shawcross broke his leg, this match will be a test of character for the young Welshman. I hope he is unfazed by the hostile atmosphere and produces a good display out in the middle, especially as we are missing Cesc and Nasri for the game and Jack Wilshere seems to have gone off the boil in recent weeks.

Team news is that Diaby and Clichy also miss out for the match. Vermaelen makes a return in the substitutes bench after being out since September. Hope he is fit and ready to fire if and when called upon.

Although the title chances have seemingly disappeared following our miserable performances in recent weeks, we should still be professional and look to give Stoke a footballing lesson in their own backyard. Personally, I would be really happy if that a***ole Shawcross gets injured and is unable to play the FA cup final.

Arsenal vs Manchester United Last Minute Preview

Its half time and we've already seen some unbelievable display of refereeing today. We can be quite rightly aggrieved that we were denied a clear penalty when Vidic threw his hands at a Theo Walcott cross. That would have been a penalty and at least a yellow card but for the referee's incompetence.

Also, Cesc Fabregas has missed out from today's match due to injury and Aaron Ramsey has taken his place. We've dominated possession as usual without creating clear cut chances, though the effort is there I must say.

Just wonder, with the kind of play and the refereeing, that it could be one of those days.

Second half is underway, I'm off.

COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!
